In the present study, an attempt has been taken to develop a comprehensive model for information assimilation. Actually it is named as "Information Assimilation Cycle". Before going through the actual study, background of the study is described. Present study reveals the workplace design techniques for knowledge workers. Ergonomics has to be used in designing a knowledge centre or digital library. Here digital library is not in its strict sense. Present study comprises the combination of automated and digital libraries. Minimum attention is given in developing proper workstation in digital libraries having VDTs. Paper discusses various problems and disorders arising out from bad workplace. Enumerates some preventive and remedial measures and standards and recommendations about working condition of digital libraries.Keywords

This write-up represents the fundamentals of SCImago Journal and Country Ranking in terms of its scope, role in scientometrics study, and the important elements of different types of scientometrics indicators. It attempts to achieve some fundamental objectives of scientometrics, like: 1. ensure access to articles published in different R&D literature at national and global level, 2. reflect and represent true picture of scholarly contribution, research, scientific productivity at national and global level, and 3. have an authentic tool/ground for effective, efficient and rigorous evaluation of scholarly works. The SJR2 indicator takes into account not only the prestige of the citing scientific journal but also its closeness to the cited journal using the cosine of the angle between the vectors of the two journals’ co-citation. To eliminate the size effect, the accumulate prestige is divided by the fraction of the journal’s citable documents, thus eliminating the decreasing tendency of this type of indicator and giving meaning to the scores.Keywords

Data carpentry is an emerging field in the domain of LIS and has opened new possibilities for information professionals to survive in the age of data-intensive information services. However, library professionals face the challenges of information overload because of the free availability of data, both in terms of quantity and variety. The role of library professionals is moving from tech-savvy to data-savvy. This research discusses the possibilities of ODbL-based data sources that offer freely accessible data through API calls and proposes a meta-model for fetching and extracting datasets from these databases using an open-Source Data Wrangling Tool (OpenRefine). Further, it discusses the possible application of data wrangling techniques from diverse sources in libraries and how information professionals can take advantage of openly available data to provide value-added information services to users. The practical implications of an array of databases are projected through two case studies: Case Study I deals with measuring the productivity of individual institutions through different metrics, and Case Study II projects a coverage comparison among the ODbL-based citation and Altmetric databases. This meta-model will aid in understanding the potential application of data wrangling techniques to an array of library services.Keywords
