The leaves of Lippia alba (fam. Verbenaceae) were studied to fix the parameters for pharmacognostical standards. The results of organoleptic study offer a scientific basis for the use of Lippia alba which possesses characters like green colour, strong aromatic odour and aromatic taste. The fluorescence analysis under visible light & under UV light by treatment with different chemical reagents showed different colour changes. The presence of flavonoids, steroids, tannins, saponins and reducing sugars was confirmed during preliminary phytochemical screening. Eco-friendly, flora, degenerative disease, bio-friendly, fluorescence analysis.
