Asymmetric rectangular CFST beams with unequal wall thickness subjected to pure bending in the elastic plastic stage are investigated in the paper. The variation of the neutral axis in the elastic plastic stage and the condition of the maximum of the ultimate bending moment are given. A case study of ten CFST beams with different cross sections is also carried out. From the theoretical analysis and the case study, it is determined that for an asymmetric cross section, the neutral axis will move and rotate nonlinearly with the plastic development of the cross section, and the translation and rotation of the neutral axis will undergo a fast-slow-fast process.
