Dear Members,

I am thankful to you all for electing me as the President of the Institute this year. Our Institute has achieved prominence in promoting awareness of training, R &D, quality assurance, inspection, testing, health & safety aspects through out the country .It has attained the expertise to enhance skill of welding professionals.

The first issue of this journal for the year, 2007 came out with the collaboration of AWS. It was the beginning of cooperation between the two establishments to offer better value to their respective members. An obvious synergy that emerged from the collaboration was for the IIW to provide its readers a wider spectrum of welding technology developments throughout the world by publishing key articles from the AWS journal. This step has improved the image and visibility of the journal.
