Success Story of General Electric-Lighting

By 1890, Thomas Alva Edison had brought together several of his business interests under one corporation to form Edison General Electric. At about the same time, Thomson-Houston Electric Company, under the leadership of Charles Coffin, gained access to a number of key patents through the acquisition of a number of competitors. Subsequently, General Electric was formed by the 1892 merger of Edison General Electric of Schenectady.
GE Lighting has been a pioneer in India to offer a wide range of best in class LED Products, Luminaries (Fixtures), Lamps and Control Gears (Ballasts), Controls to cater to various applications including Roadway, Retail, Office, Industry, Sports, Signage, Automotive, Stage and Studio. It offers complete Lighting solutions beginning with concept, visualization followed by a detailed lighting design in accordance with industry standards.
The study aims at understanding the scope of GE lighting in the country.
Non-probability sampling methods like the chi- square test, pearson correlation and percentage method were used to analyze the data. A working model of the GE lighting industry was studied. The study aims into understanding the variables like price, place, promotion and product used by GE for a better marketing mix.
