EDITOR’S NOTE

DR Jaswant S Kanwar is a living legend for soil scientists globally, and is a past President of the International Society of Soil Science (ISSS). Dr Kanwar worked as Deputy Director GeneralSoil Science with the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), New Delhi before joining ICRISAT as its Deputy Director General. Considering his eminnet services, the Governing Board of ICRISAT conferred his the title of Deputy Director General-Emeritus. His family and friends celebrated his 95th birthday on 10 Dec 2017 in Hyderabad.
