Medicinal and aromatic plants play a significant role in the life of people and are present in innumerable forms. It also played a significant role in many ancient Indian Systems of Medicine. Kalmegh (Andrographis paniculata Nees) is a medicinal plant that has been effectively used in traditional Asian medicines for centuries. It is found in the Indian Pharmacopoeia and is the prominent in at least 26 Ayurvedic formulas. Research conducted in the '80's and '90's has confirmed that Andrographis paniculata properly administered has a surprisingly broad range of pharmacological effects.
