Methods: 60 high school male athletes in the age group of 15-18 years with lateral ankle sprain were assigned to training. Subjects of training group participated in a 4(four) week balance training program based on a compilation of the rehabilitation and balance validated and published in prior studies. SEBT and CAIT score were taken to measure severity of functional ankle stability during pre - and post- balance training programme.
Result: After balance training ,significant differences were found in reach distance of SEBT score in Anterior(A), Lateral(L), Medial(M), Anteromedial(AM), Anterolateral(AL), Posteromedial (PM) and Posterolateral(PL); whereas the reach distance in posterior(P) direction showed insignificant difference. Significant difference was noted in the post-training CAIT score
Conclusion: Balance training program significantly reduces the risk of recurrent ankle sprains in high school athletes with lateral ankle sprain.
