The International Diabetes Federation's (IDF) diabetes atlas 2011 shows that 366 million people have diabetes worldwide and by 2030, this will have risen to 552 million. At the same time, 183 million people (50%) with diabetes are undiagnosed1. Current estimates suggest that two thirds of those affected by diabetes live in low and middle income countries (LMIC). By 2025, the number of diabetes cases will increase by 170% in low and middle income countries, compared to a 41% increase in developed countries2. The total child population (0-14 years) was 1.9 billion worldwide. Some 78,000 children under 15 years are estimated to develop type 1 diabetes annually worldwide. About 49,000 children were affected with type 1 diabetes with 24% from European region and 23% from South East Asian region1. Insulin is an important hormone concerned with regulation of carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism and blood glucose level. Insulin has been identified as one of the top 10 high risk medicines in treating type 1 diabetes3.Keywords

The objective of the present study was to investigate the CNS depressant and Anxiolytic activity of the methanolic extract of the whole plant of Celastrus paniculatus Willd. (Family: Celastraceae) in mice as a part of psychopharmacological screening of this plant, using different in vivo experimental models. The effects of the plant extract (200 mg/kg, 400mg/kg and 600 mg/kg) on the central nervous system (CNS) was evaluated for potentiation of phenobarbitone-induced sleeping time in mice. The results revealed that the methanolic extract of Celastrus paniculatus Willd. Whole plant has reduced the onset of Phenobarbitone-induced sleeping time in mice and prolonged the duration of sleeping time significantly (pCelastrus paniculatus Willd. Whole plant, using Staircase test model, it was revealed that the extract at doses 200 mg/kg and 400mg/kg reduced the number of rearings and decreased the number of steps ascended significantly (pCelastrus paniculatus Willd. whole plant contains some active principles which may possess significant CNS depressant and anxiolytic activity.Keywords

The hypolipidemic activity of Lantana camara was studied on high fat diet induced models of hyperlipedemia in rats. Hyper lipidemia condition established by butter was evidenced by enhancement in levels of cholesterol, tri-glycerides, LDL, VLDL. Methanolic extract showed significant hypolipidemic effect by lowering of serum levels of serum cholesterol, TG, LDL, VLDL and increased dl level. Ethanobotanical knowledge of medicinal plants is some of the most prominent source of new drugs and has shown potential results for treatment of obesity. Prelimnary phytochemical analysis revealed thye presence of phyto constituents such as steroids, flavinoids, alkaloids.Keywords

In this study, pristine, single impacted and double impacted GFRP specimens were subjected to ageing by immersion in seawater at ambient temperature for different periods of time. The dominating failure mode of the aged specimens was found using acoustic emission monitoring. The water absorption capacity and flexural strength of specimen subjected to ageing were assessed to study the trend of variation. A reduction in residual strength was observed between single and double impacted specimens. Stress cycle plots from AE monitoring indicate that the onset of failure occurs sooner as the ageing time progresses. From those of impacted specimens, it can be seen that the onset of failure and damage initiation occurs sooner in double-impacted specimens than in single-impacted counterparts. Parametric peak frequency analysis shows that fiber-matrix debonding was the predominant mode of failure.Keywords

The present study was undertaken to evaluate the anxiolytic and a nti-convulsant activity of the alcoholic extract of heart wood of Cedrus deodara (ALCD). 50,100 and 200 mg/kg of alcoholic extract of Cedrus deodara (ALCD) were tested for its anxiolytic and anticonvulsant activity. Elevated plus maze model (EPM), Actophotometre, Light- dark model were used for testing anxiolytic activity and Pentylene tetrazole (PTZ) induc ed convulsions and Maximal electro shock (MES) induced convulsions models in mice were used for the assessment of its anticonvulsant activity, Pretreatment with ALCD and estimation of GABA in rat brain tissues also performed to study the effect of ALCD (30, 100 mg/kg) on GABA levels of brain. In Actophotometre test, higher doses (100 and 200mg/kg) of ALCD has show ed significant CNS depression by reducing locomotor activity in mice. In EPM the 100 and 200mg/kg of ALCD has increased the time spent in the open arm and decreased tim e spent in the closed arm. In Light-dark model the 100 and 200mg/kg of ALCD has showed significant inc rease in the time spent in light zone when compare to the dark zone. In PTZ induced convulsions model 100 and 200 mg/kg of ALCD has increased the onset of clonus and tonic seizures.
In MES induced convulsions model 100 and 200 mg/kg of ALCD has decreased duration of tonic extensor phase and also at 100 and 200 mg/kg doses the AL CD has increased the percentage protection in PTZ and MES induced convulsions. The ALC D (30 and 100 mg/kg) also showed significant modulation of GABA levels of cereb ellum and whole brain other than cerebellum. In conclusion these observations suggest tha t 100 and 200 mg/kg doses of ALCD are having good anxiolytic and anticonvulsant activity.

Aluminum Metal Matrix Composites (AMMCs) are promising as the most flexible materials for advanced in automotive, structural, aerospace, aviation, marine, defense applications and other interrelated sectors because of their tremendous combination properties. In this work we have taken Al 7075 -SiC- Granite dust. By varying the weight percentage of Al 7075 (75%, 80% and 85%) and the reinforcement materials like SiC (15%, 10% and 5%) and taking Granite dust as constant (10%), by using stir casting technique the material is fabricated.
The wettability of SiC and Granite dust particles in the matrix was improved by adding them. The optical and scanning electron micrographs showed a homogeneous dispersion of composition material. The result shows that the Sample-3 (Al85%+SiC5%+Granite dust 10%) shows improvement in mechanical properties like hardness, the wear properties has been reduced and their Micro structural characterization clearly shows uniform distribution of SiC and Granite dust in the composition.

In this work, a method is proposed to schedule the resources while considering SNR values along with CQI in a view to provide a better packet scheduling. A threshold based method is also proposed with multiple packet scheduling algorithm. A novel Kalman filter based CQI estimation algorithm is designed using SNR values. Different packet scheduling algorithms are decided for varied CQI levels. Simulation results show that the proposed method would improve the link level performance and average throughput of the system. Furthermore, the effect of improving quality is highlighted on user experience and applications are suggested which might change the way we will use Internet in near or far future.Keywords

With the rapid growth of internet technologies, Web has become a huge repository of information and keeps growing exponentially under no editorial control. However the human capability to read, access and understand Web content remains constant. This motivated researchers to provide Web personalized online services such as Web recommendations to alleviate the information overload problem and provide tailored Web experiences to the Web users. Recent studies show that Web usage mining has emerged as a popular approach in providing Web personalization. However conventional Web usage based recommender systems are limited in their ability to use the domain knowledge of the Web application. The focus is only on Web usage data. As a consequence the quality of the discovered patterns is low. In this paper, we propose a novel framework integrating semantic information in the Web usage mining process. Sequential Pattern Mining technique is applied over the semantic space to discover the frequent sequential patterns. The frequent navigational patterns are extracted in the form of Ontology instances instead of Web page views and the resultant semantic patterns are used for generating Web page recommendations to the user. Experimental results shown are promising and proved that incorporating semantic information into Web usage mining process can provide us with more interesting patterns which consequently make the recommendation system more functional, smarter and comprehensive.Keywords

Increasing demands for highly efficient proximity networks led to the derivation of LTE-A (LTE-Advanced) by 3GPP (3rd-Generation- Partnership-Project).Its superior characteristics in terms of capacity and data rates make it a user-friendly option to realize the pipe dream of efficient communication for several communication modules. Device to Device (D2D) communication is one such scheme that adopted the features of LTE-A to ensure the quality of experience and services for the users. D2D aims at establishing device connectivity by interlinking devices in the vicinity. Direct connectivity and connectivity via ENodeB (eNB) are the advisable schemes of D2D Communication. Further enhancement is D2D is realized in the form of side-link which ensures direct connectivity of devices by eliminating eNB routing. This achievement by 3GPP enhances the co-existence of side-link and D2D,which makes it adoptable in various value added services. One such value added service exists as VANETS (Vehicular ad-hoc networks), designed for inter vehicular communication to elevate quality of living of the people by ensuring public safety. This paper mainly focuses on Radio Resource Controller (RRC), Media Access Control (MAC) and ProSe layers of 3GPP protocol stack.Keywords

Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technology is becoming mature in wireless communication systems. It has led to the third and fourth generation wireless systems which have been providing good range, reliability and higher data rates. To extract the benefits provided by the MIMO systems, it is necessary to estimate the noisy channel through which the information is transmitted. To acquire the channel parameters, we propose compressed sensing (CS) method based on priority which considers the channel with few dominant taps, i.e., sparse nature of the channel is exploited. In this method, priority is taken into consideration, where all user equipments (UE) are not of equivalent significance and more inclination is given to the user with high need. When the number of UEs is more than the available channels, rating is given to UEs based on some heuristics. With this proposed method, we can obtain better performance in-terms of BER and SNR when compared to the conventional methods such as least square (LS) and minimum mean square error (MMSE) techniques. Simulation results show the comparison between the proposed method and the conventional method which proves that the compressed sensing technique outperforms the LS and MMSE techniques.Keywords

The objective of the research is to investigate the fatigue life of intra-ply hybrid Carbon-Aramid laminate with Epoxy resin in on-axis and off-axis directions. Three different off-axis angles of 15°, 30° and 45° were considered for the present work. The intra-ply hybridization is used to combine the superior mechanical properties of Carbon fibre with excellent elongation-to-failure property of Aramid fibre in the same lamina. The fatigue test was performed using load control using a frequency of 5Hz. The fatigue behaviour was studied for Carbon/Epoxy, Aramid/Epoxy, Carbon-Aramid/Epoxy, Carbon-Aramid/Epoxy - 15°, Carbon-Aramid/Epoxy - 30° and Carbon-Aramid/Epoxy - 45° with the stress ratio of R = 0.1. The ultimate tensile strength decreases progressively for Carbon/Epoxy, Carbon-Aramid/Epoxy, Aramid/Epoxy, Carbon-Aramid/Epoxy - 15°, Carbon-Aramid/Epoxy - 30° and Carbon-Aramid/Epoxy - 45°. The effect of off-axis loading indicates that the increase of fibre angle influences the decrease in tensile strength and fatigue life.Keywords

The growth of brain can be assessed by using MRI. The MRI images of the neonatal brain have a much lower Contrast-to-Noise Ratio (CNR), frequently have lower signal-to-noise ratio due to the small size of the neonatal brain and vary enormously in terms of brain shape and appearance as a result of rapid brain development during this period. In addition, the partial volume effect present due to the inverted signal intensity in White Matter (WM) presents an obstacle for tissue classification. The Manual segmentation of the abnormal tissues cannot be compared with modern day’s high speed computing machines which enable us to visually observe the volume and location of unwanted tissues. This system provides a framework for accurate intensity based segmentation of newborn brain using region growing algorithm.Keywords

The customer demands on micro component usages have been increased in past some of the decades. So, the development is necessary to achieve desired smaller shape and size of components with high accuracy. In this work, blind-hollow cylindrical micro-hole fabrications of various diameter (0.5 x 0.7 mm, 1 x 1.4 mm and 2 x 2.8 mm) on Titanium grade (Ti6Al4V) were processed by Nd:YAG laser machine. The design of experiment, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) techniques and effect of process parameters has been implemented to assess performance. The performance characteristics of the blind-hollow cylindrical micro-hole fabrication were evaluated through circularity and Feret’s diameter. The laser tuning parameter such as current, pulse frequency and air pressure were considered as input laser parameters.Keywords

The main aim of the study is to investigate the Employee’s Engagement and its impact on Job Satisfaction of employees working in Veera Home Tex (India) private limited. The Descriptive Research design has been used in this study to identify the various dimensions of Employee Engagement within the organization. Data for the study has been collected by using Interview Schedule. The sample size is 110, and the tools used for this study is percentage analysis and ANOVA. The findings of the study is that the majority of the employees have given their opinion that they are highly satisfied with the level of respect they get in the organization, salary paid to them, job security, work environment and feedback given by the superiors. It was also found that there is a relationship between gender and Job Security.Keywords

We have discovered common fiber as the reasonable substitution. We have discovered regular fiber as the appropriate substitution. The common fiber having the few favorable circumstances yet despite the fact that some primary disadvantage additionally presents in the fiber. In this venture palmyra fiber is favored as a composite material. In any case, the fundamental inconveniences of characteristic strands in composites are the helpless similarity among fiber and grid. To defeat this issue, explicit physical and compound medicines were recommended for surface change of filaments by agents.
