Mikania - a Growing Menace in Plantation forestry in West Bengal

Mikania cordala, has been recognised as a serious pest in the forests of North Bengal. It has been steadily raining the otherwise successful plantations. The high forests also have not spared. The situation has been further aggravated by the virtual stoppage of the taungya cultivation. This has necessitated experimentation with weedicides for controlling this notorious climber.The layout, results and economics of the experiment have been discussed in this paper.
