Subscribe/Renew Journal
The object of the experiment was to afforest hot, bare and rocky hill slopes at an elevation of 7,000 feet with suitable species. Both indigenous and exotic species have been planted in winter as well as during rains. Deodar has succeeded on better soil. Cupressus torulosa, C.arizonica and Pinus ponderosa have given excellent results. Tube planting has given a high survival percentage in case of Pinus sylvestris and P.taeda. Only planting in the beginning of rainy season has succeeded with coniferous species. Comparatively light weeding are indicated to protect young plants from sun and drought.
