In a soil survey of the Soil Conservation Research Station, Chandigarh, five soil series are distinguished. The soil units are interpreted into the land capability classes and subclasses. The data are further correlated with the vegetative types occurring in the area. Five vegetation associations are distinguished which more or less follow the soil pattern. This observation is significant in extending the results of research to other problem areas in the Siwalik tract either by identifying the soils or by the plant index.
