Possible Role of Developing Countries in the Timber Economy of Europe
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Europe, within the last ten years, has become a net importer of wood and wood products and its timber requirements are increasing at such a rapid rate that the need is being relt to broaden the base of supplies from overseas particularly from the vast tropical and subtropical forest resources, which are generally located in the developing countries. This provides an excellent opportunity for the expansion of activities in the developing countries and it may be expected that this may assist the achievement of the economic growth, so necessary for diversified progress.
