Eucalyptus 'Hybrid' - a New Source of Cineole

   Subscribe/Renew Journal

The leaf oil of certain trees of Eucalyptus hybrid bas been shown to contain a very high percentage of cineole (63.2-72.3%). In this respect and also in almost all other characteristics the oil compares favourably with the Australian Eucalyptus globulus oil and very much more with the Indian Eucalyptus globulus oil. This particular strain of the hybrid can, therefore, be an additional source for the medicinal eucalyptus oil, with the added advantage that the trees can grow successfully under diverse conditions of climate, soil and rainfall.
