Vesicular-arbuscular Mycorrhizal (VAM) Association of Agarwood Tree in Jorhat District of the Brahmaputra Valley

Occurrence of VAM fungi in forest tree species is well known and are found in most ecosystems. A survey for collection of ischolar_main and rhizosphere soil samples of Agarwood plant from various plantations of Jorhat district of the Brahmaputra Valley, revealed variation in per cent ischolar_main colonization and number of VAM propagules in the rhizosphere soil samples. Different VAM fungi have been isolated, of which the genus Glomus is dominant. Among the Glomus spp., Glomus fasciculatum is the most dominant followed by Glomus aggregatum.
