India has a large working population in un organised sector. Forestry constitutes one of the segments of the said sector. About three million people work in the forest sector. These forest workers do not have steady employment, and secure or sustainable income. They urgently need social security cover. There is an urgent need to undertake more social security schemes in the unorganised forest sector.
