Indirect Organogenesis in Oroxylum indicum (L.) Vent.
Subscribe/Renew Journal
An efficient protocol has been developed for indirect shoot organogenesis of Oroxylum indicum (L.) Vent. For a high frequency egeneration system, apical bud and axillary bud explants of Oroxylum indicum (L.) Vent, were used with different combinations of Indole -3-butyric acid (IBA), α-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA), indole 3-acetic acid (IAA), 2,4- dichloro phenoxy acetic acid and 6- benzyl amino purine (BAP). All the auxins tested were capable to induce callus from these explants with different colour and texture. Morphogenic callus was cultured on media supplemented with BAP (0.1-5 mg/1). The highest percentage of shoot regeneration, highest mean number of shoot per callus mass with maximum shoot elongation were observed upon transferring the callus to medium containing BAP (1mg/1). Elongated shoots ischolar_mained on MSM supplemented with IBA(1mg/1).
