Tbe effect of seed weight on germination, survival and initial growth of horsechestnut in the nursery was studied. The results indicated that the medium and heavier seed weight classes performed significantly better than lighter seed weight class in terms of germination, survival, seedling height and seedling dry weights. However, heavier seed weight class gave significantly more seedling dry weights than the medium seed weight class. Therefore, the use of medium and bigger seeds of horsechestnut in the nursery for optimum germination, good survival and better plant growth as well as higher plant yield is advocated.
