Root samples of one year old seedlings of hardwood species collected from nurseries at New Forest were examined for ve,kular-arbuseular mycorrhizal (VAM) colonization. Highest level of ischolar_main colonisation was noticed in Michelia champaca. In Albizia lebbek, Grewia robusta and Madhuca longifolia the level of VAM colonization was less than 10% Frequency of infection was highest in Toona ciliata and lowest in Albizia Iebbek.
