Acacia auriculiformis and Acacia mangium are the two Australian acacias that are used for plantation forestry in the tropics. These trees are associated with rhizobia in introduced area. The present study investigate the status of rhizobial nodulation in these two acacias planted under two different experimental trials of South India. The number of nodules in these species at two different sites ranged between 3 and 30 per gram rhizosphere soil. The influence of climatic and edaphic factors on the nodule status was also determined and discussed.
