Subscribe/Renew Journal
The forest cover of the State was only 3.8% which has been increased to 7.7% of the geographical area of the State. Increase has been possible only with the active co operation from the farmers who took up large scale planting on farm lands. Main species planted were Eucalyptus, Poplar, Kikar and Shisham. A study carried out reveals that 1987-88 onwards, Haryana has become surplus in production of
Eucalyptus and Kiker (Acacia nitotira). There was a glut in the market, farmers did not get the expected price and even they started upischolar_maining Eucalyptus saplings. Under the above situation, Haryana Forest Development Corporation was incorporated as a limited company in December, 1989. The main objectives are to ensure reasonable price of the produce to the farmers, generate employment for rural sector and promoting wood based industries.
