Thermodynamic study of living state in plants indicate accurate applicability of chemical thermodynamic laws to plant growth, since it enables to calculate theoretically the calorific value of biomass of the plants. Accountability of the input energy and its utilization in the living plant, indicates energy gap of 3.9 K. cal per kg of living plant system.Similar energy gap is also noticeable when the energy production and utilization as B.M.R. is examined in new born human baby and the energy gap works out to 3.48 to 3.9 K. cal per kg of live weight in case of human beings. This energy is responsible to convert the matter from inanimate state to animate state and the matter in living state is at higher energy state. The experimental findings of the absorption spectra of chlorophyll in-vivo has an absorption band of at 678 milli microns where as the extracted chlorophyll in-vitro has absorption band at 662 milli microns indicating energy difference in the living state. This leads to the postulation that life is a manifestation of energy and it is different from the known forms of energy. This gives scientific explanation for origin of life on earth.
