Diploknema butyracea is a fast growing multipurpose tree species belonging to family Sapotaceae. Seeds of D. butyracea were stored for different storage period at ambient condition and various seed and seedling parameters were studied. The investigation revealed that seeds of this species are short - lived. Keeping in view the most desirable characters viz., germination per cent, germination value, seed weight, seed value and seed vigour of fresh seed lot were determined among all other storage periods at ambient condition. Keywords

The present investigation was carried out on seedlings evaluation in Diploknema butyracea (Cheura) under laboratory condition. During the course of test, the nature of germination was epigeous and the normal and abnormal seedlings were observed 91 and 9 per cent respectively. Ten categories of abnormalities were also found in this species. Keywords

Diploknema butyracea is fast growing species belonging to family Sapotaceae. Seed germination and seedling growth parameters (collar diameter, height, number of leaves, leaf area, biomass and stock quality index) has been studied in field condition to evaluate the nursery technique for quality seedling production. The seed germination was found epigeal in nature (the cotyledons remain above the soil surface). The growth performance of seedlings in directly sown polybags was better in comparison to the transplanted polybags. Keywords
