Journalists Perception on Human Rights— An Empirical Analysis

Human rights and journalism are always complementary to each other. The emergence of journalism has been for the protection and promotion of human rights. The media has taken great strides in solving and promoting human rights, but now a days it is seen that media is somewhat distracted from its basic social responsibilities. Reasons for this may be the lure of money and glamour as well as the unawareness among the journalists about the essential rights of people. There are many questions raised on the role of media in protecting human rights. The question is whether media justifying this role? If not, why? Are media still having any potential to meet its real pro-people role? Keeping in view of thi,s the objective of this study is to assess the consciousness among the journalists on human rights issues.
