Familiarity of Social Networking Services among Library and Information Science Professionals-A Survey

The information environment in which LIS Professionals find themselves is continuously changing. The ways in which people today communicate, interact, acquire and share knowledge have changed due to advancement in the information and communication technologies. Hence the librarians must compete for their survival. Social Networks is the new concept where users are not only information consumers but also content creators. An online survey was conducted among engineering institutional librarians of Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh, to study their awareness on Social Networks.
