The UGC earlier supported academic libraries in automation and networking to make them knowledge resource centers and has later added another dimension with UGC – INFONET, which has promoted the usage of electronic journals by the academic and research community in the universities. Though there is an overall appreciation of the programme, the usage pattern and the awareness of the technical competence and skills among the users in exploiting the resourcefulness seems to be a lacunae. Through this paper an attempt is made to analyse the usage pattern of e-resources in selected three universities in Karnataka State.

Abstract

The UGC earlier supported academic libraries in automation and networking to make them knowledge resource centers and has later added another dimension with UGC – INFONET, which has promoted the usage of electronic journals by the academic and research community in the universities. Though there is an overall appreciation of the programme, the usage pattern and the awareness of the technical competence and skills among the users in exploiting the resourcefulness seems to be a lacunae. Through this paper an attempt is made to analyse the usage pattern of e-resources in selected three universities in Karnataka State.
