Rural Library and Community Resource Centres (RLCRCS) in India with Special Reference to States Having Library Legislation: Problems and Prospects

This paper is a summary of a research project undertaken to study the information needs of rural communities vis-a-vis the current situation of rural (community) libraries. It identifies the sources of information required for rural community and assesses the impact of Government programmes and policies. It tries to assess the role of NGOs working for providing information services in rural areas. The study aims at developing a model for a Rural Library and Community Resource Centre.
