Content Management:A Thrust Area in LIS

Content is King for Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals. The LIS professionals are struggling to depict their whole library content in the web sites with sticky properties. If LIS professionals only problem is to create and maintain a large web site, we have reason enough to desire the strict structure and formal procedures of a Content Management Systems. Such a system helps us get and stay organized so that the site can grow and change quickly while maintaining high quality. The Web, however, is simply one of many outlets for information that organizations need to manage. The present article explains some of the basic processes involved in Content Management. People use a very wide variety of tools and methods to process information and get it into publications. It also explained different types of web sites and web page editors like MS Front Page. Different leading Content Management companies are also discussed in brief. This is an important area where LIS professionals can concentrate and explore new research.
