A Bibliometric Study on Application of Telemetry in Wildlife Science

Bibliometric study of the bibliography on application of telemetry technique in wildlife science for the period 1956-1994 was analysed to understand the various characteristics of literature on the subject. On the basis of 2019 references, the study attempted to identify the growth pattern of literature, different bibliographic fonns of literature, classwise distribution of literature, authorship pattern, and rank list of core journals and leading authors, etc. The study revealed that most of the studies are communicated through journals and the most important of these is Journal of Wildlife Management. It is also found that 56.66% studies are conducted on mammals although there has been a gradual increase in all classes. The study also shows the increasing trend in collaborative research pattern as single authorsh ip papers decrease from 44.44% in 1956-1964 to 31.89% in 1990-1994.
