Standardization for Resource Sharing Database

Development of Library services depends on interchangeability of inputs and exchange of formats within a single premises as well as with several premises. Documents have to be handled with content analysis and representation. This will help selection for use of thoughts with ease and understanding. This has to be done in-house as well as for remote access. Standardization provided a better facility for this purpose. International standards for document handling is of the order of 2000 and more. For work in a library, it is about 200 and odd. In India, thanks to Dr. Ranganathan, standards for library and bibliographic handling been there; but it confines to 20 and add standards. Further growth has not been effected for better purposes. However, standards movement has been continuous for effecting network resources and networks. We shall discuss these movements.
