The Indo-US Joint Commission for Science and Technology has identified scientific and technical information as an important area.for bilateral co-operation between India and USA. Dr Lee G Burchinal, Director, Division of Information Science, National Science Foundation, Washington DC, visited India during December 1975 and January 1976 to initiate a joint programme for co-operation between India and USA in the area of Scientific and Technical Information. The organisation of the joint seminars is one of the items for such co-operation. The first Indo-US Seminar was held at Washington during 13 to 15 October 1976. It discussed the information resources in energy, environment, and natural resources.
