Reports the results of the study on the motivational pattern of Librarians/Information workers in India. Identifies the dominant needs and relates them to Maslow's theory. There appears to be a reversal of hierarchy. The Esteem needs are very dominant while the Social needs are less emphasised upon. An explanation of this phenomenon is attempted. Correlates the age and income of respondents with the need pattern.
