Ranganathan's Perspectives and Achievements

Ranganathan lived through a period of renaissance (1892-1972). The libraries had a primary objective of preservation of collection of documents. But these objectives were enlarged towards use of documents and to collect documents that users want to read and finally make the documents themselves move towards users -that is documents go in search of users. Ranganathan's perspectives are to be analysed in this context. Ranganathan had an analytical mind and he put his ideas in a logical and systematic approach. But, it put everything in a holistic context.
