High Productivity Environmental Research Organizations in India: a Study of their Performance for the Period 2008-12

The publication analyses high productivity organizations in India in environmental science, using publications data from Scopus database for the period 2008 to 2012 for identifying their overall strength and weakness measured on few quantitative and qualitative indicators. It also provides a comparative evaluation and performance of different types of Indian organizations in environment research. The study concludes that IITs (Institutes of National Importance) and research institutes model of funding for research are comparatively more effective in giving performance in terms of quantity and quality. The publication also lists suggestions for national policy formulation for growth and development of environmental science research in the country.
