Growth of Periodicals and Obsolescence of Articles in Periodicals: A Case Study in Sociology

A study on the growth in number of the periodicals in Sociology, Social Service and Welfare, and Population is presented. The growth in the number of significant contributions in the fields mentioned above is also given. The respective values of the Ageing Factor, Half-life, Mean-life, Utility factor and Obsolescence factor of the articles in the periodical in Sociology are determined.
