Small Scale Industrial Maladies - Does Marketing Sickness cause them?
Subscribe/Renew Journal
The Small Scale Industries (SSIs) play a vital role for the healthy growth of our country. The Industrial policy of the Government deliberately signifies the importance of SSI sector as a tool of economic growth. The promotion of SSIs is generating employment opportunities, raising income and standards of living, and bringing balanced and integrated rural economy. It encourages dispersion of economic power and spreads industrialization to all parts of the country. The government aided corporations and institutions provide infrastructural, technical, financial and other support to SSI sector. However, a very large number of SSI units are reported to be sick and the sickness estimate ranges from 30 percent to 70 percent. Though the small-scale Industrial units contribute significantly to the economy of the country, the output and the employment show-increasing trend at diminishing rate.
