Nutritional Profile and Food Consumption Pattern of Asthma Patients

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airway of the lungs associated with an increase in airway hyperresponsiveness leading to recurrent episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness and coughing, particularly at night or in the early morning. About 155 million individuals worldwide and 50 million people in the developing countries are affected by asthma and in India over 11-15 million people of all ages are affected1. People with intrinsic asthma have no clinical or family history of atopy and it is due to some intrinsic abnormality of the bronchus.
