Avinashilingam Institute started publishing a Journal in January 1964 by name JOURNAL OF NUTRITION AND DIETETICS, as a quarterly publication. Subsequently in January 1970 the journal was upgraded to a bi-monthly due to its popularity and demand. Then on, it was published under the name THE INDIAN JOURNAL OF NUTRITION AND DIETETICS and from January 1975 it is being published as a monthly journal.

The Indian Journal of Nutrition and Dietetics is one of the first of its kind in India. It has the support and guidance of several leading scientists both national and international in the field of nutrition on its Advisory Board. It publishes current research papers and review articles in the fields of Nutrition and Dietetics. The News and Views section reports on current concepts in nutrition of global acceptance. Therefore the Journal is bound to be of great value to the students and faculties of Medicine, Home Science, Biochemistry, Agriculture, Veterinary Education, Extension Training Centres, Universities, Research Centres and organizations involved in Nutrition Programmes.
