Consumption of Street Foods by Urban Population and their Microbiological Safety

Street foods are defined as ready to eat foods and beverages prepared and sold by vendors in streets and other public places. These foods include snacks or lunch items being easily available within the means of population. The shape of the street food industry has been formed during the recent years primarily as a result of rapid urbanization, convenience, variety and relatively low cost it offers to the consumer. Consumers in urban areas need nutritious and safe food at an easily accessible location at low prices. In many countries, workers as well as students have their first meal of the day from street food vendors.
