Anthropometric Measurements of Young Rural Children

Nutritional anthropometry is one of the most important method of assessment of growth and development because physical dimension of the body are much influenced by the state of nutrition especially in rapidly growing children. The nutritional status of the children depends on dietary habits. Malnutrition and repeated attack of infectious diseases are known to be important causes of poor health. It is of prime importance to identify those who are in the danger line so that appropriate measures may be taken for improvement particular for the children of low income group. Hence the present study was taken up with the objectives to assess the anthropometric measurements of young rural children belonging to low income group and to compare the anthropometric measurements of these children with various national and international references.
