Obesity is essentially a disorder of energy balance.  It is the most common nutritional disorder of present day. In Great Britain obesity is probably more common among poor women than among rich and gives rise to more ill health than all the vitamin deficiencies put together. One of the surveys carried out in middle class urban population in Delhi revealed that every third woman above 40 years tends to be obese.
