Dietary Fibre Profile of Selected Pulses
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Dietary fibre is the plant material that cannot be digested by the digestive enzymes of the gastro-intestinal tract. Most dietary fibres are contained in the cell wall of the plant cells. The two major chemical classes of fibre are the polysaccharides and the lignins; the former are further divided into cellulose and noncellulosic polysaccharides. Recently few excellent methods to measure different types of dietary fibre have been developed.
