The recent discovery of the human zinc deficiency syndrome in the Middle East and the subsequent recommendation of the dietary allowance of zinc, have raised the mineral to a new plane of nutritional significance in man. As a result, interest in the zinc content of food articles and whole diets has been renewed in many countries.
