Food and Nutrition Strategies in National Development

The Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee that was convened to consider this question included not only nutrition specialists but also economists, public health specialists, and development planners. After a brief review of the food and nutritional problems and of the world and of past approaches to their solution, the report discusses the desirability of a new approach based on the formulation and implementation of effective food and nutrition planning within national development programmes.
