Voluntary Intake and Nutritive Value of Paddy Strawpoultry Litter Silage
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Limited informations are available on the use of poultry droppings/litter for making silages and reducing the cost of livestock feeding. In their studies poultry droppings were ensiled with green maize which also is a costly ingredient under the present conditions. Paddy straw is available in large quantity as a byproduct from the rice cultivating area for the feeding of bovine but it is deficient in both protein and energy besides important minerals and vitamins. In order to improve its nutritive value and to make it a sole maintenance ration, the paddy straw was ensiled with a high proportion of standard poultry litter along with a little amount of green maize and sugarcane molasses.
