This book represents the proceedings of an International Symposium summarizing the role of minerals in human development. As pointed out in the preface "the role of minerals in human development has been relatively neglected compared with other nutrients" and in that respect this book serves the purpose to stimulate interest in this particular field. About twenty one authors have contributed to the various chapters.
