Incidence of Hypercholesterolemia and Hyperglycemia among Rural Men and Women in Coimbatore

World wide Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) take an enormous toll on lives and health compared to communicable diseases. Cardio Vascular Diseases rank first among NCDs and contribute to 48 per cent of deaths throughout the world. The factors that increase people's risk of developing these diseases are increased levels of blood pressure, cholesterol, Body Mass Index (BMI) and blood sugar. An increase in body fat is generally associated with increased risk of metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension and dyslipidemia.
