Free radicals such as superoxide anion (O2) and hydroxyl (OH) radicals and nonfree radical species such as H2O2 and singlet oxygen (O2), are different forms of activated oxygen produced continuously in cells as accidental byproduct of metabolism or deliberately during some reactions such as phagocytosis. The effects of free radicals in human beings have been recently considered as their close relation to toxicity, diseases and aging.

Abstract

Free radicals such as superoxide anion (O2) and hydroxyl (OH) radicals and nonfree radical species such as H2O2 and singlet oxygen (O2), are different forms of activated oxygen produced continuously in cells as accidental byproduct of metabolism or deliberately during some reactions such as phagocytosis. The effects of free radicals in human beings have been recently considered as their close relation to toxicity, diseases and aging.
