Subscribe/Renew Journal
Smoking in different forms is a major risk factor for atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease. Dose response relationship has also been observed between the number of cigarettes smoked and cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Cigarette smoking leads to an increase in concentration of serum total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL-C, VLDL-C and fall in the level of antiatherogenic HDL cholesterol.
