Study on the Factors Contributing to the Nutritional Status of the Elderly
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Ageing is a developmental process, part of the cycle, beginning at conception and ending with death, Old age is defined as the age of retirement, for it is at that time that the combined effect of ageing, social changes and diseases are likely to cause a break down in health. An increase in longevity and a decline in fertility have contributed to people living much longer today than ever before in the last 50 years. Among numerous environmental factors that modulate ageing, nutrition plays a significant role. The inseparable triad of nutrition, ageing and health is the logical basis for appropriate management of the problems that arise at the interface of these interdependent factors.
